The current story studio
The story studio is for adults creating a book with family photos they are authorized to use. It reads only the files you choose, not your whole photo library. Choosing files prepares smaller copies in your browser; it does not upload them immediately.
When you choose “Find our story” or “Write our story,” your selected photos, names, and memory account are sent through our server to OpenAI. Approving a story sends the edited draft and photos to our server. Drawing a spread sends its approved text, illustration description, and relevant photo references to OpenAI.
The new studio does not save your photos or book in a Print the Magic cloud project. They stay in the open tab unless you download a project or reading copy. A downloaded project includes the selected photos and story. Anyone you share that file with can read them. Closing or reloading the tab can lose unsaved work.
Story requests disable saved Responses API state. That does not mean zero retention: OpenAI’s abuse monitoring, caching, and other applicable retention rules still apply. See OpenAI’s API data controls. Hosting and rate-limit services also process request metadata, such as IP addresses, to operate and protect the service.

This Privacy Policy explains how Storybook processes photos, generated content, and usage data when you use the Storybook web app and iOS app.
1. Data We Collect
- Uploaded photos and generation inputs (style, language, optional child name).
- Generated pages and metadata used for story rendering and export packaging.
- Operational metrics and analytics events (for reliability and product improvement).
2. How We Use Data
- Generate photo-based illustrated story pages and captions.
- Measure quality, reliability, and performance of generation systems.
- Provide customer support and investigate incidents or abuse.
3. Data Retention
Stored operational records are retained only as long as needed for service operation and debugging. Retention windows should be configured and enforced before public launch.
4. Third-Party Processing
Image and language generation may use third-party model providers. We send only the data required to fulfill your generation request.
5. Children’s Privacy
Storybook is intended to be used by adults (parents/guardians). Do not submit personal data that you are not authorized to provide.
6. Security
We apply access controls, rate limiting, and storage safeguards. No system is perfectly secure, so we continuously improve protections and monitor for misuse.
7. Your Rights
You may request deletion of your submitted or generated data by contacting support. We will process verified requests in line with applicable laws.
